Family Literacy

Family Literacy/Developing Capacities for Strengthening Literacy and Lifelong Learning in Nepal Programme.
In 2013, ERDCN developed 16 titles of family literacy materials with support of UNESCO and conducted Family Literacy Classes as a pilot basis in Kathmandu and Gorkha. The pilot classes have proven that the literacy can be used for all age's people, such as parents and children can learn together with same curriculum and in the same class in same environment. Currently second phase of Family Literacy programme as "Developing Capacities for Strengthening Literacy and Lifelong Learning in Nepal" projected implemented in 18 VDCs of Gorkha district with the funding support of UNESCO Kathmandu Office. Literacy is the base for the project. It works to develop the capacity of the people through different literacy activities to eliminate illiteracy from Gorkha district.
